E-safety and Acceptable use of ICT and mobile devices

The school has an E-safety Policy governing the use of the electronic devices and access to the internet by pupils and staff, which aims to ensure that pupils are using these resources safely and responsibly. Access to the internet is a privilege which is dependent upon responsible use.

Our school internet system has a screening system in place which aims to prevent access to unsuitable material, or material of an offensive, illegal or inaccurate nature. This is provided by RM system Monitoring who monitor pupils’ use of the internet and provide immediate, weekly or monthly password-protected reports to designated senior leaders.

As part of our curriculum, we offer pupils supervised access to the internet to enhance their learning.  In our ICT and our PSHE lessons pupils will also learn how to keep themselves safe online.

All pupils are required to agree to the Pupil Acceptable Use Policy.  Parent support in this matter is important to keep our pupils safe at school, at home and online.

We know our pupils struggle to maintain and establish friendships and sometimes social media activity from home creates issues at school, we try to support with this where we can, although some of our pupils recognise that home is home and school is school.
